INTERVIEW WITH A CAR LOVER

// I love cars, but can I name-drop cool and special car models? Not a chance. Do I know what motor a particular car has inside its trunk? Not a chance. However, Ted Gushue does.

I contacted Ted because I admire his work and his love for cars. I wanted to peak inside his world and understand who he was and why he did what he did. Please see to my questions and his answers below:

1. Who are you and what do you do?

I’m the Editorial Director of Petrolicious.com, we are a classic car focused enthusiast website that travels the world in search of the most tremendous cars and their owners.

2. You take photos of many things, but you’re especially into racing cars?

We love all cars at Petrolicious, especially ones that are owned by people that love them. That bond between man and machine is very special.

3. What’s your favourite car?

My own car! I drive a 1976 911S Porsche with a 3.2L engine from a 1986 Carrera.

4. #drivetastefully is a hashtag you have in your bio, yet I don’t see you use it on your photos, what’s the hashtag about?

I personally prefer not to use hashtags on my own photos, but I use it on every photo for the Petrolicious account. I think hashtags like DriveTastefully are great for allowing people to join our larger conversation on Petrolicious and submit photos to us, but I like to think of my personal account as semi-private to me.

5. Esquire follows your Instagram; was that a sort of “stamp”, or confirmation on that you’re producing quality content?

I just try to make every image I post transport you to that specific moment in time. I don’t take selfies or really post pictures of myself, everything is taken from my first person perspective so that you get the chance to see exactly what I saw in that moment.

All photos are from Ted’s website.
